Red Bull wholesale: the fastest rotation on your shelf — if your supplier keeps up

May 2026 · 5 min read · By the Martigane team
Red Bull is arguably the fastest-rotating reference in your entire beverage aisle. A standard can rarely sits more than 36 hours on a retail shelf. Excellent news for your margin — and a logistics nightmare if your supplier cannot keep pace. Here is how Martigane keeps Red Bull on your shelf, every day, across France, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

Red Bull: the reference point of the energy aisle

In France, Red Bull holds an estimated 35% share of the energy drink segment. That is a commanding position, and it is not eroding: it has grown since 2020, largely on the back of the Red Bull Editions and their fruit flavours.

For a retail buyer the implication is simple: Red Bull has to be on the shelf. There is no credible substitute. Monster Energy is growing but remains well behind, and private label only convinces on entry price, which is not the dominant segment.

The three formats to carry

1. The 250ml slim can

The entry format and the volume leader. Ideal for vending, urban convenience and petrol stations. Thin margin per unit, but extremely high rotation. Order by pallets of 24 packs, each pack holding 24 cans.

2. The 473ml can

The premium format, growing strongly and much in demand in retail and food service. Margin is significantly better than the 250ml, rotation slightly slower, but average basket value is higher. Well suited to weekend impulse displays.

3. The Red Bull Editions (watermelon, tropical, blueberry, peach-nectarine and others)

The Editions have been the engine of Red Bull's growth since 2020. They attract a younger and more female customer base, widen the consumption base, and carry better margins. Each seasonal edition creates an event on the shelf. This is where to invest if you want to differentiate from competitors.

💡 Martigane's advice

Carry at least two different Editions permanently. Red Bull buyers show a strong tendency to try a new flavour when it is given visibility, which generates incremental basket value.

The Red Bull supply trap

Red Bull GmbH operates an exclusive distribution network. Commercial terms are strict, minimum volumes are high, and the margin left to intermediate distributors is thin.

The result is that many food wholesalers fail to honour their delivery commitments on Red Bull. They prioritise large accounts and keep smaller ones waiting, sometimes seven to ten days. That is untenable for a buyer watching the Red Bull facing empty out daily.

What Martigane does differently

We built part of our beverage business on precisely this market frustration:

The sugary drinks levy: a detail often handled badly

Red Bull Original contains sugar and is therefore subject to the French levy on sugary beverages. That levy represents roughly 4 to 8% of the pre-tax cost price depending on packaging. Many suppliers bury it inside a global price, which makes your margin calculation opaque.

We itemise it on every invoice. You know exactly what you are paying in levy, what you are paying for the product, and what you can pass through to your selling price.

What about the Editions?

Not all Editions contain sugar. The Sugar Free Editions are exempt; the classic watermelon and tropical versions are liable. It is a detail that changes your entire margin calculation, and one we set out reference by reference.

Make Red Bull your fastest-rotating reference

Original, Sugar Free, Zero and Editions: the full Red Bull range delivered in 48 to 72 hours across France. Permanent buffer stock, no stockouts.
