Thailand has been among the world's leading rice exporters for decades, and its signature product is Hom Mali rice (varieties KDML105 and RD15). It is grown mainly in the north-east of the country, in the Isaan region, on poor sandy-clay soils that concentrate the grain's natural aromatics. The secret lies in its natural content of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline — the same aromatic compound found in pandan leaves — which is what produces the characteristic floral scent released during cooking.
Thai Hom Mali has taken the "World's Best Rice" title at the World Rice Conference on multiple occasions since 2009. That recognition explains both the price premium the grain commands on European and Asian markets, and the loyalty of consumers of Asian origin who will not substitute it for anything else.
The premium reference of the range. New Crop designates rice from the current harvest campaign (2025-2026): the freshest grain available, with optimal monthsture content, aromatics at peak intensity, and a lighter, airier texture after cooking than older crops. The 100% Hom Mali designation guarantees there is no blending with less aromatic varieties.
Available formats: 1 kg × 24, 1 kg × 12, 5 kg and 10 kg. The 1 kg × 24 works best on Asian grocery shelves; 5 kg and 10 kg suit restaurants and bulk resale.
The 2025 harvest, slightly older than the New Crop. Rice that has aged a few months cooks to a firmer texture, which many Asian chefs prefer for wok dishes where the grains must stay separate. It usually prices below the New Crop, making it strong value for Asian catering operations.
Available formats: 1 kg × 24, 1 kg × 12, 5 kg and 10 kg.
Jasmine rice from Pathumthani province is a distinct variety from Hom Mali: slightly shorter grains, a stickier texture once cooked, and a less intense but softer, more neutral aroma. It is particularly valued for rice puddings, Asian desserts such as sticky rice, and as an accompaniment to sauce-based dishes where a more absorbent grain is preferable.
Available formats: 1 kg × 24, 1 kg × 12, 5 kg and 10 kg.
