Turn a designation into measurable criteria
Product names and commercial grades may not be enough. Define parameters with units, thresholds, tolerances and methods. Specify acceptance criteria for final use and alternatives requiring prior approval.
Compare the technical sheet with the proposed lot
A technical sheet describes the product; an analysis certificate records identified results. Check the link between analyses, lot, date, laboratory and method. If samples or inspection are required, agree responsibility and the approval stage.
Prepare traceability and shelf-life requirements
Request manufacturer or establishment, origin and lot identification, plus relevant dates. For food, specify composition, allergens and required shelf life on arrival. Frozen products also need documented transport conditions.
Verify access to the importing market
Requirements depend on product, origin and destination. The party responsible for importation should check applicable authorisations, controls and documents. Animal-origin products need particular attention to origin and establishment eligibility.
Request certifications relevant to the project
Organic, halal or other certification should be expressly requested and checked for holder, issuer, validity and product scope. A mention in sales material does not replace documentation applicable to the lot or transaction.
